Fall Sports

The Junior High and High School fall sports teams are looking forward to opening their seasons after Labor Day weekend.   The Lady Mustang Volleyball team opens their season hosting a quad (Lincoln, Southern Cloud, Thunder Ridge) at home on Tuesday, September 2nd.  Matches start at 4  pm.  The Mustang Football team hits the road on week 1 traveling to Natoma on Friday, September 5th, a 7 pm kickoff.  The Cougar Volleyball and Football teams will host Stockton (@Lucas) on Thursday, September 4th. . . . read more

History

In 2010 Russell School District 407 transferred the territory and schools of Lucas and Luray to Sylvan Unified School District 299.  Starting with the 2010-2011 school year, USD 299 then established a grade school, grades K-6 in Lucas, called Lucas-Sylvan Unified Elementary, home of the Cougars.  Grades 7-12 were housed in the Sylvan Grove facility, called Sylvan-Lucas Unified Jr./Sr. High School, home of the Mustangs.  The merger went well and it doubled the number of students in the 299 district.   The . . . read more
